The Union of Metallurgic, Mechanical and Electric Material Industries of the State of Pernambuco - SIMMEPE is the oldest business entity from Pernambuco’s industrial segment with over 70 years of activities (established in 1934) and is a member of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco - FIEPE.

The entity’s main objective is to represent, whenever necessary, the companies that compose the supply chain of the Metallurgic, Mechanical, Electric and Electronic sectors. These four sectors bring together nearly 700 companies and are responsible for 21% of the state’s industrial GDP.

Actually, these sectors constitute the basic productive chain for the local industries, since they have the capacity to spread their effects to the other economic segments, becoming an unmatchable incentive to development.

The industrial park composed by these sectors stands out for its size and economic relevance, and also for the direct contribution to the increment of incomes for the Cities, the State and the Federal Union.

Throughout the past seven and half decades, SIMMEPE has given its effective contribution to the economic development of the industry, and has been recognized as a competent and politically participative reference in the segment.

Every year SIMMEPE develops a program of activities, aiming to benefit the whole industrial segment, gathering positive efforts from the active and integrated companies in the local business environment.

THE MISSION

Among all the Union’s activities, the following ones should be highlighted:

• To permanently promote the development of the productive chain represented by the Union and protect its interests. Simmepe also works for a continued interchange between companies from the same sector and also from other economic segments;

• To promote the integration between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and major structural undertakings, achieving the consolidation of the local productive chain;

• The constant relationship with the higher level entities, such as CNI - National Confederation of Industries, Fiepe - Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco and Ciepe - Center of Industries of the State of Pernambuco, being a permanent member of these last two organizations;

• The permanent interchange with other organizations responsible for promoting the industrial development, especially with Sebrae, Senai, Sesi and IEL;

• To keep an outstanding dialogue with municipal, state and federal governments, representing the industrial segment’s interests.

• The permanent relationship with other congeneric unions from the northern and northeastern regions of Brazil, through the North-Northeast Coalition of Enterprises, created and coordinated by SIMMEPE;

• The permanent relationship with nationally recognized entities and other business associations, such as ABIN

• Participation and organization of national and international commercial missions with different ends;

• Organization of a great annual exhibition of the sector, through the Fair of the Metallurgical and Mechanical Industry of Pernambuco - FIMMEPE / MECÂNICA NORDESTE, that takes place every year in the city of Recife.EE - Brazilian Electrical and Electronics Industry Association and ABIMAQ - Brazilian Machinery Builders’ Association, whose regional office is located in Simmepe’s headquarters.

• To provide a permanent support to its members, through the constant legal assistance and the conduction of the annual wage bargaining process with the union of employees from the metallurgic sector;

• To publish relevant information for its members through an electronic weekly media called Simmepe News and a bimonthly paper named Simmepe Informa. The paper circulation reaches Simmepe’s entire network, including other business entities and specialists;

• To help member companies contacting financial institutions and development agencies, reaching financing lines, credit opportunities and other incentives;

• Organization and promotion of seminars, courses and technical visits to promote business qualification;

• Participation in national and international sectorial fairs and meetings;

THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE ENTITY

SIMMEPE’s headquarters is located in the central region of Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco (Brazil), in a private building with a sophisticated structure, including conference rooms, auditorium, area for events and all the modern and up to date technological resources, such as computers, broad band internet, data show, etc. - all the necessary structure and equipments for the execution of courses, seminars, meetings, workshops and other similar events for the members.
